Cedar Rapids Police Department Releases Footage from Inside Geneva Tower Fire

On Sunday, Feb 20, 2022, Cedar Rapids Police Officers and Firefighters battled the largest high-rise fire in City history. Body-worn cameras from several Cedar Rapids Police Officers captured moments of bravery, compassion and outstanding teamwork.

While police evacuated residents, firefighting teams were extinguishing the flames on floors 9-12 and with aerial units. Several area agencies - including the Linn County Sheriff's Office, Area Ambulance, American Red Cross, Salvation Army and multiple nearby fire departments - supported the effort directly or as backfill allowing Cedar Rapids units to send additional resources to the scene.
