Free Fitness Classes Offered at Jones Park FitLot

The Cedar Rapids Parks & Recreation Department, in partnership with AARP, is offering free classes at the FitLot in Jones Park, 201 Wilson Avenue Drive SW. Three types of classes are being offered to teach residents of all ages and abilities how to use the equipment and to encourage them to exercise. While the classes are free, participants must register at Eventbrite.com.

The FitLot Method Intro Class covers FitLot fundamentals of circuit training in a slower paced, light-effort instructional setting. One-hour classes are available on July 22 from 5:00-6:00 p.m. or July 24 from 9:00-10:00 a.m. The FitLot Method Drop-In Class provides participants with the opportunity to drop in for one hour and experience a full circuit-training workout without having to commit to a multi-week class. Taking an Intro Class first to gain an understanding of the FitLot equipment is recommended. Drop-In opportunities are available July 27 from 9:00-10:00 a.m., July 29 from 5:00-6:00 p.m., July 31 from 9:00-10:00 a.m., August 3 from 9:00-10:00 a.m., August 5 from 5:00-6:00 p.m., or August 7 from 9:00-10:00 a.m. The FitLot Method Multi-Week Series Class meets from 9:00-10:00 a.m. on Tuesdays, August 10 – September 28. The class provides a full-body and fun workout once a week for eight weeks. This series class is perfect for people starting a new fitness routine. Registration for all programs at Eventbrite.com
