Firefighters to Receive CPR Training Unit from NADA Foundation

The Cedar Rapids Fire Department Emergency Medical Services training program will benefit from a generous donation from Randy Kuehl Honda on Monday, February 20th.  Randy Kuehl Honda, in partnership with the National Automobile Dealers Charitable Foundation, will present a Resusci Anne CPR (cardiopulmonary resuscitation) unit to the department.

The Resusci Anne CPR unit has a feedback device to measure the quality of CPR, providing real-time and summative feedback on compression rate, depth, release, hands-off time and other critical components of high-quality CPR.

“Firefighters, along with police officers and ambulance personnel, respond to out-of-hospital cardiac arrest incidents in the community,” said Firefighter/Paramedic Amy Kunkle. “Effective CPR by first responders is a key component for increasing survival rates for patients that present without any breathing or pulse.”

Since the NADA Foundation’s Medical Grants program began in 1975, more than 4,900 CPR training units with a value of more than $3 million have been donated to organizations in all 50 states and Washington, D.C. More than 2 million people have been trained on CPR units donated by new-car dealers.

Representatives from Randy Kuehl Honda will present the Resusci Anne CPR unit to firefighters on Monday, February 20th at 9:30 a.m. at the dealership location at 4425 Center Point Road NE.  Members of the media are invited to attend the presentation.

About the National Automobile Dealers Charitable Foundation

The NADA Foundation, established in 1975, is the philanthropic arm of the National Automobile Dealers Association. Funds contributed by new-car and -truck dealers and friends of the industry provide financial support to schools, private colleges and universities, emergency disaster relief and other community service programs. The NADA Story

NADA has been the voice of the dealer since 1917. That’s when 30 auto dealers traveled to the nation’s capital to convince Congress not to impose a luxury tax on the automobile. They successfully argued that the automobile is a necessity of American life, not a luxury. From that experience was born the National Automobile Dealers Association. Today, NADA represents nearly 16,000 new-car and -truck dealerships with about 32,500 franchises, both domestic and international. For more information, visit www.nada.org.
