Police Substation Open at 1233 1st Avenue SE
The Cedar Rapids Police Department’s Police Substation at 1233 1st Avenue SE, Suite F, is now open. The previous location at 1501 1st Avenue SE is closed.
The goal of the satellite police facility is to establish community relations and solicit information to address issues. The Police Substation at 1233 1st Avenue SE, Suite F, has office space for the District Police Lieutenant, Police Community Action Team Sergeant, and the Eastern Iowa Heroin Initiative Officer. There is also adequate space for other police officers to use the resources available inside the office and meet with citizens as needed.
The Police Department relocated the substation because the previous location at 1501 1st Avenue SE had 6,800 square feet of space, which was significantly more space than was needed. The annual cost savings of the relocation is up to $60,000.
