Located at the corner of Collins Road and Council Street NE, the Noelridge Greenhouse is owned and operated by the City of Cedar Rapids Parks & Recreation Department. The greenhouse produces annuals and perennials for planting on public property. A permanent display of large tropical plants is also housed there. The Noelridge Greenhouse is open weekdays from 7:00 a.m. - 3:30 p.m. and for scheduled special events such as the annual Easter and Mother's Day Showcases. The Easter Showcase is Saturday and Easter Sunday and the Mother's Day Showcase is on Mother's Day Sunday.
The Friends of Noelridge offer regular FREE guided tours of the greenhouse, landscaped beds, and butterfly tent for individuals or groups. Tours for specific age groups, adults or children, will generally last one hour. To register for a tour, email: firstname.lastname@example.org. Please include number attending, general age and date. The Friends of Noelridge are a group of volunteers from Cedar Rapids and neighboring communities who assist the greenhouse staff. These volunteers have a wide variety of skills that are matched to a need in the greenhouse or park. Their primary task it to propagate and nurture the 60,000 plants that are found in all of the public spaces in Cedar Rapids. In addition, volunteers provide leadership in many of the educational events that occur at the park and greenhouse. Volunteers lead tours for community organizations and school groups, assist the public during open house events, and help with maintenance and improvements in the gardens.
