Grab your tackle box and get ready to fish!
The Cedar Rapids Parks and Recreation Department is hosting a virtual fishing tournament from May 15-31. The Crush the Curve Fishing Tournament is a family-friendly event that is open to anyone with a valid fishing license in the state of Iowa. It is as easy as registering, downloading the iAngler Tournament app, getting out to fish, and recording your catches. It is a fun and easy way to compete while spending time enjoying great Iowa fishing locations.
The Rules are Simple:
- Register online for Crush the Curve Fishing Tournament (Program #102306-01).
- Receive an email with your code and instructions on how to download the free iAngler Fishing app.
- Tournament runs Friday, May 15 - Sunday, May 31. (Registrations will be accepted after May 15.)
- Fishing must take place within the Iowa border.
- Four species of fish may be recorded using your camera on your phone.
- Largemouth bass, crappie, and walleye will be registered by length with a tape measure next to the fish. The longest fish in each species will be the winner.
- Catfish will be registered by length and weight and the winner will be the heaviest fish.
- Largest total length of bass, crappie, and walleye combined will be the winner of the SLAM category.
- $50 gift card will be the awarded to the winner of each of the five categories.
- Open to all ages.
- Program cost is $19/family.
