1960-1973: In 1969, nearly every older structure along First Street SW was destroyed. Buildings along the river including the old Kingston Hall and Cedar rapids State Bank building, were replaced by an expansive Riverfront Park system. On the other side of First Street SW, all older buildings, with the exception of Peoples Bank were replaced by modern concrete structures.
