1990-present: In the 1990’s, the Cedar Rapids Community Theatre in the 1928 Iowa Theatre building was renamed Theatre Cedar Rapids. TCR has enjoyed over 30 years of success at their First Avenue location. In 2013, a new City parking ramp was built between the Iowa Theatre Building and the railroad tracks. Remnants of the old Allison Hotel, built in 1905 and demolished in 1983, were found while constructing the new city ramp.
