Temporary Skatepark to Open at Time Check Park

March 27, 2023

With consistently warming temperatures, the Parks and Recreation Department will be installing temporary skatepark equipment on the basketball court at Time Check Park, 1131 5th Street NW, this week. The site will serve as a replacement skatepark while the Riverside Skatepark is under construction. The location was chosen based on preferences indicated in a public survey last fall and will close when the new skatepark is completed in late summer 2023. “We are excited to provide a place for skatepark users as they wait for the new skatepark at Riverside Park. We know they are eager to get back outside and skate.” said Hashim Taylor, Parks and Recreation Director.

The equipment is portable, and will be able to be used for clinics and other events following the completion of the Riverside Skatepark. Equipment includes a combination of quarter pipes, fun boxes, manual pads and grinding kits. Hours of operation are normal park hours from 6:00 a.m. to 10:00 p.m. There is not lighting at this location so caution is urged when skating in early morning and evening hours. Users are asked not to use the equipment when wet, or when temperatures are below 32 degrees based on the manufacturer’s recommendation.
