Open House to be held at Ellis Golf Clubhouse and Event Center

An open house will be held at the new Ellis Golf Course Clubhouse and Event Center on Thursday, July 14 from 2:30-4:30 p.m. As part of the event, a ribbon cutting ceremony will be held at 3:30 p.m. The new clubhouse replaces the original clubhouse which was built in 1961 and demolished because of damage that occurred during the August 2020 Derecho. The course has operated out of a trailer since the storm.

“Out of the devastation of the Derecho, we were provided with an opportunity to build a modern clubhouse and event center that we believe the community and golfers will be excited about. From the reception and retail area, to the event space, the building improves the functionality of the course,” said Hashim Taylor, Cedar Rapids Parks and Recreation Director.

The 3,500 square foot clubhouse has an additional 2,300 square foot event space. The event space is a new addition to the course with space for 120 people. It allows the City to better serve golfers in tournaments and at special events. In addition, it will be available for public rental for weddings, reunions, graduations, retirement parties, and corporate events.
