Controlled Burns Scheduled for Native Prairie Management

The Cedar Rapids Parks and Recreation Department, in coordination with the Cedar Rapids Fire Department, will be conducting controlled burns at Noelridge Park, 4900 Council Street NE; Seminole Valley Park, 5925 Seminole Valley Trail NE; and Wilderness Estates Park, 909 Moose Dr NW. The controlled burns will take place between Friday, April 30 and Thursday, May 6 as weather conditions allow.
The burns are an important and beneficial tool for native prairie management and health. It is one of the best methods to control invasive plants, saplings and woody vegetation, and significantly benefits native prairie ecosystems.
