Donaghy Recognized with Water Environment Federation Award

Utilities Director Steve Hershner presents the Laboratory Analyst Excellence Award to Jacob Donaghy.The Water Environment Federation recognized Jacob Donaghy, utilities water quality specialist for the City of Cedar Rapids, with the Laboratory Analyst Excellence Award. The award was presented at the 2019 IAWEA Annual Conference in Altoona on June 5.

The Laboratory Analyst Award honors individuals for outstanding performance, professionalism and contributions to the water quality analysis profession. Through his efforts, Donaghy has provided exceptional service to Cedar Rapids Water customers, including education and water quality sampling. He has created operational efficiencies, coordinated new sampling events and provided support for the Middle Cedar Partnership Project, all with positive impacts on our source water quality.

“Our customers’ high level of confidence in our water quality is critical,” said utilities director Steve Hershner. “Jacob has led efforts to improve data collection, meet customers’ needs, and ensure our water supply is safe and reliable — every minute of every day.”
