The Patrol Division is commanded by Captain Ryan Abodeely. Within the Patrol Division is the Bike Patrol. The Patrol Division includes 10 Lieutenants, 18 Platoon Sergeants, and 117 Patrol Officers including 7 K9’s. Police officers provide around the clock response to calls for service. There were 142,781 calls for service in 2015.

In the spring of 1995, the Cedar Rapids police Department began a bike patrol unit.
