Creative Homemade Christmas Gifts                                        
Your child will enjoy making three creative and fun old-fashioned Christmas gifts to give to friends and family -- a Shut the Box game, a Solitaire game, and an elegant folding paper fan.

Pre-Registration Required!

Where: Ushers Ferry Visitor Center

Ages: 8-12 yrs. old

Cost: $12 for Cedar Rapids residents, $14 for non-residents.


Film Discussion Series: "Metropolis"

The 1927 silent film Metropolis touched deep chords that strongly influenced films from Bladerunner to Star Wars. Metropolis saw new life at the end of the 20th century as an animé film. View the films in two evenings and discuss their meanings and messages over coffee.

 Pre-Registration preferred, but not required.

Scouting Programs
Boy Scouts, Girl Scouts, Cub Scouts and Brownies are invited to take advantage of two workshops offered at the Ushers Ferry Visitors Center. Workshops last approximately two hours and will cover a variety of badge requirements.

Games and Toys

Have a great time learning and playing the games played by children in Iowa 100 years ago. Games include jacks, marbles, Shut the Box, and marble Solitaire.

Ropes and Knots

Make your own Rope and learn how to tie knots.

Cost: $100 per troop and $1 per scout supply fee for each session.
