Thanksgiving
Candlelight Tour
November 28 & 29, 2008

After the turkey is eaten, the football is watched, and the shopping is finished, come to Ushers Ferry for another great holiday tradition- the Thanksgiving Candlelight Tour on November 28 & 29 from 4-8 PM. You'll know you are somewhere magical the moment you crest the hill and see the Village laid out below lit by 400 luminaries. Celebrate the holiday with the residents of this small Iowa town in 1908. They will welcome you into their homes to sample holiday cooking or to make some early Christmas presents.

Stop by the Grange Hall to dance a set at the Thanksgiving Ball. Join in the singing at the Village Church. On Main Street you can visit with the Village merchants. Sample some cider or hot chocolate at the Corner Place Saloon.

Returning to the tour this year is the special program the "Log Cabin Holidays with Laura" by Linda Starbuck. She will have displays centered around Laura Ingalls Wilder and will be baking some of Laura's favorite holidays treats.

Admission for this special event is $8 for adults and $3 for children 3-14.

Visitors are encouraged to arrive before 7:15 to enjoy the entire experience and a flashlight or two will help to light your way around the Village. Reservations are not required for this event. Bring out the family and friends for a very special evening event at Ushers Ferry Historic Village. For more information contact the Village office at 319-286-5763.
