The mission of the Traffic Engineering Division is to provide for the safe, efficient, and effective movement of motorists, pedestrians and commercial vehicles within the Cedar Rapids area.

Report Repairs/Concerns:

• Report a Traffic Signal Problem
  Please include the intersection, time of day and a detailed description of the problem you encountered.
  
  
• Report a Street Light Out
  Most streetlights in the City are owned and maintained by Alliant Energy. If you are reporting a light out in your neighborhood then you may go directly to Alliant Energy’s website to report the outage.
  
  Traffic Engineering Division maintains City owned decorative lighting and some streetlights in the downtown area. If you are unsure who maintains the street light that is out, please provide specific information (an address, landmark or distinct feature on or near the streetlight) and our staff will direct the request to the correct entity.
  
  
• Report a Traffic Sign Missing, Damaged or Needed
  Please include a detailed description of the type of sign damaged (stop, yield, street name, etc), the location (an address, landmark or distinct feature) and the amount of damage (sign only, sign and post, post only) if possible.
  
  
• Report a Traffic Concern
  Personnel from the Traffic Engineering Division will respond to your email within 48 hours. Please include how you would like to be contacted in your email. If you do not want a response, place DO NOT REPLY in the heading of your email. You will need to include a detailed description of your concern including the location and time of day.
