Cedar Rapids Parks & Recreation Safety Protocol

PURPOSE
In light of the COVID-19 pandemic, we have modified our program policy to reflect the most recent Governor's proclamation.

NOTICE
Failure to abide by these requirements may result in dismissal from programs and facilities. A refund will not be issued in light of this violation.

GENERAL SAFETY PROTOCOL

  • If you have been sick in the last two weeks or have a cough, fever or other flu-like symptoms, stay home for the health and safety of yourself and others.
  • Follow social distancing standards of a minimum of six feet between you and others.
  • Wear a mask when you enter a building or are walking around outdoors and unable to maintain a minimum social distance of six feet.
  • Practice good hygiene - Wash hands with soap and water; use hand sanitizer (especially after touching surfaces); Avoid touching face, and sneeze or cough into a tissue.
  • Individuals 65 years of age and older, or those with underlying medical conditions, are strongly encouraged by the Governor of Iowa to limit their activities outside of their home to avoid potential exposures.

PARKS, TRAILS AND OPEN SPACES

Follow the General Safety Protocol in addition to the following:

  • Avoid crowded locations. Consider an alternate entrance, if available, or another park.
  • Do not gather in groups beyond members of your own household.
  • Be aware that park restrooms are currently closed and water is not turned on. Please bring hand sanitizer with you.
  • Please carry out any trash that is brought into the parks.
  • Trail users on any trail system are encouraged to maintain distance between themselves and others by signaling your presence with your voice, bell, or horn, and stepping off the trail to allow others to pass.

OUTDOOR YOUTH SPORTS PROGRAMS
PRIOR TO MAKING A REGISTRATION/RESERVATION, YOU MUST AGREE TO THESE RESTRICTIONS. Failure to abide by these guidelines may result in dismissal from the program. A refund will not be issued in light of this violation.

Follow the General Safety Protocol in addition to the following:

  • All spectators must remain socially distanced. Mask use is recommended at all times, even outdoors.
  • Youth participants are not required to wear a mask during play

The following precautions will be taken for participants' safety:

  • Staff coaches will wear masks
  • Participants will be divided into smaller groups for each sport
  • Contact drills and games will be limited to allow for more social distancing
  • Hand sanitizer will be available for use on site
  • All equipment will be disinfected between use
INDOOR PROGRAMS/EVENTS
PRIOR TO MAKING A REGISTRATION/RESERVATION, YOU MUST AGREE TO THESE RESTRICTIONS. Failure to abide by these guidelines may result in dismissal from the program. A refund will not be issued in light of this violation.

Follow the General Safety Protocol in addition to the following:

  • If you become sick or subject to exposure between the period of registration and the start of the event/program, contact Cedar Rapids Parks and Recreation at least one day in advance to receive a refund.
  • Expect to be asked screening questions at check-in. You may be required to have your temperature taken.
  • You are required to wear a mask for the duration of the program. For those who do not have a mask, masks will be provided at check-in.
  • You will be issued your own table and equipment, set at socially distanced spacing for the duration of the program. Tables and equipment will not be shared between users and will be sanitized at the beginning and end of the program.

SPECIAL OLYMPICS PROGRAMS
PRIOR TO MAKING A REGISTRATION/RESERVATION, YOU MUST AGREE TO THESE RESTRICTIONS. Failure to abide by these guidelines may result in dismissal from the program.

Follow the General Safety Protocol in addition to the following:

  • Athletes and coaches must sign a waiver.
  • Coaches must complete an online Covid-19 course.
  • No equipment will be shared.
  • Athletes must arrive and depart wearing a mask.
  • Athletes are not required to wear a mask during play.
  • Athletes and coaches who are high risk should wait until the risk is lower before participating.
  • Social distancing is mandatory.
  • No spectators are allowed at practices.
  • Competitions will most likely be virtual.

SWIM LESSONS
PRIOR TO MAKING A REGISTRATION/RESERVATION, YOU MUST AGREE TO THESE RESTRICTIONS. Failure to abide by these guidelines may result in dismissal from the program. A refund will not be issued in light of this violation.

Follow the General Safety Protocol in addition to the following:

  • A class may be canceled due to low enrollment.
  • Locker rooms (bathroom, lockers, showers) are closed. The ADA bathroom near the front desk is available.
  • Once your class is over, you must exit the building out the north door. You many not wait around for another class to start. (Note: If you register two children for back-to-back classes, one child for a class and then another for the next class, you will need to arrange for someone else to bring the second child and pick up the first.)
  • A parent or person age 16 or older from the same household must be in the water at all times for Levels 1, 2, and 3. This requirement is optional for Levels 4 and 5, but if you wish to be in the water with your child at these levels, you must pass a deep-water test.
  • Arrive dressed to swim, five minutes ahead of time.
  • Instructors will be teaching (out of the water) from the pool deck.
  • There will be storage bins on the pool deck at your class location for you to put your items in.  These will be sanitized between classes.
  • Wear a mask when you enter the building and remove it when in the water.

BASKETBALL/PICKLEBALL COURT RESERVATIONS

PRIOR TO MAKING A REGISTRATION/RESERVATION, YOU MUST AGREE TO THESE RESTRICTIONS.

Follow the General Safety Protocol in addition to the following:

  • Reservations are required and must be made online. Transfers, cancellations, or refunds are not available for reservations.
  • Basketball courts can accommodate two players from different households or four members of the same family per hoop, or two adults and up to four children from the same family on Friday Family Nights.
  • Pickleball courts can accommodate four players per 1.5 hour time slot.
  • You must bring your own balls and equipment.
  • Courts will be disinfected between reservations.

LAP LANE/WATER EXERCISE RESERVATIONS

PRIOR TO MAKING A REGISTRATION/RESERVATION, YOU MUST AGREE TO THESE RESTRICTIONS.

Follow the General Safety Protocol in addition to the following:

  • Reservations are required and must be made online. Transfers, cancellations, or refunds are not available for reservations.
  • Due to the possible need for contact tracing, you must register for yourself.
  • Registration for the following week (Monday - Sunday) opens at 10:00 a.m. on the Wednesday before.
  • Daily registration closes at 6:00 p.m. for the next day.
  • Only one person is allowed per lane with no exceptions.
  • There is a limit of one visit per day. (There are five lanes.)
  • Participants may lap swim or water walk, but must keep moving - no in-place exercises.
  • Arrive dressed to swim, five minutes ahead of time.
  • Locker and shower rooms are not available, but restrooms are open.
  • Wear a mask when you enter the building and remove it when in the water.
