When it comes to curbside recycling, CURBY is the tool for the job!  CURBY is a large blue cart that can easily be wheeled to and from the curb on collection day.  Some residents may still have the small blue box for recycling.  The same rules apply to the blue box.

CURBY is co-mingled, which means that several different materials can be put in the same container.  The following materials can all be placed in CURBY together:

 Material

Goes in CURBY

 Does NOT go in CURBY

Containers with numbers 1-7

(water bottles, milk jugs, shampoo bottles...)

Plastic bags or film plastic can be taken to your local grocery store for recycling

Styrofoam goes in the garbage

Glass

Glass is recyclable at your curb, but should not be placed in CURBY because it poses a safety hazard to our recycling crews and the workers at the sorting facility.

Please place clear and colored glass in a separate 2.5 to 5 gallon bucket and set the bucket beside your CURBY cart for collection.

Extra Recycling

There is a weight restriction on the recycling collection containers, but no volume restriction.  When setting your CURBY cart out for collection it should not weigh more than 220 pounds.  If you are still using the older small blue bins the weight limit is 40 pounds.

If you have more recycling than will fit in your CURBY cart, you can set out extra items in a cardboard box.  On collection day, crews will take the cardboard box as well to prevent it from blowing around your neighborhood.  Please limit the box size to 2ft. x 3ft. x 2ft.

You may also purchase an extra CURBY cart by calling (319) 286-5897.
