Crime Prevention


The Crime Prevention Offices have helped to keep Cedar Rapids the safe community it is by starting our children off on the right foot by being a positive role model and a friendly helper.

In 1999, the CRPD Crime Prevention Bureau gave 2,250 presentations to schools and the community; performed 2,135 hours of Community Oriented Policing; attended 1,313 meetings and received 917 hours of training.

 CRIME PREVENTION COMMANDER

Sergeant Cristy L.D. Hamblin has been with the Cedar Rapids Police Department since 1983. She has worked in the Patrol Division and was Officer Friendly/Police PAL in the schools. She was then promoted to Sergeant in charge of Communications and Records and worked as a field supervisor. She is now in charge of the Crime Prevention Bureau where she is involved in many community activities and serves on various boards and commissions.
