Officer-Involved Shooting Update: Officer Name Released
The following media release was disseminated by the Iowa Department of Public Safety - Division of Criminal Investigation.
On November 4, 2016, the Iowa Division of Criminal Investigation (DCI) interviewed Cedar Rapids Police Officer Lucas Jones who was involved in the November 1st shooting of Jerime Eron Mitchell. Officer Jones voluntarily gave his account of the incident.
Officer Jones has been employed by the Cedar Rapids Police Department since August 2011. Officer Jones remains on paid administrative leave pending the outcome of the investigation. No additional information will be released at this time.
