Officer-Involved Shooting at 1735 Edgewood Road NW

The Iowa Division of Criminal Investigation (DCI) is investigating an officer-involved shooting involving Cedar Rapids police officers that occurred around 9:30 p.m. on Monday evening at Valley High Apartments, 1735 Edgewood Road NW.

Officers were dispatched to a domestic disturbance at the apartment complex.  A 25-year old male suspect was pronounced dead at St. Luke’s Hospital.  An autopsy is scheduled to be conducted at the Iowa Office of the State Medical Examiner in Ankeny, IA. 

The name of the suspect is being withheld pending notification of family members. 

This is an active, ongoing investigation.  The names of the officers will not be released until after they have been interviewed by the DCI.
