Lot 44 Flood Levee in NewBo Begins


Starting the week of May 25 after the Memorial Day holiday, construction will begin on the Lot 44 flood levee in NewBo. The levee will stretch from 9th Avenue to 12th Avenue SE, and is part of the City’s permanent flood control system. The project is scheduled to be completed spring 2021.

Parking will still be available in Lot 44; however, restrictions will be in place during and after construction. To view a map of parking restrictions and access areas during this time, please visit the City’s website.

Amphitheatre Floodwall
Construction is also underway on the Amphitheatre floodwall in Kingston Village. The facility includes a built-in floodwall to the 2008 flood volume, and doubles as a restroom facility and event storage.

2020 Flood Projects:

  • 16th Avenue SE floodgate: Construction currently underway. The gate rolls across the road and will protect to the 2008 flood volume.
  • Amphitheatre floodwall: Construction currently underway. The facility includes a built-in floodwall to the 2008 flood volume, restroom facility, and event storage.
  • Removable (stackable) floodgate at 3rd Avenue SE: Tentatively scheduled to begin September 2020, the gate protects to the 2008 flood volume and will be closed when river elevations reach approximately 22 feet.
