Online Reporting Tool Available for Police Calls for Service, Reporting, and Records Requests
The safety of the community remains the top priority of the Cedar Rapids Police Department. Police officers are continuing to respond to calls for service and enforcing law violations to preserve peace and order in our community during this COVID-19 public health emergency.
To protect the health and safety of our police officers, the Police Department is asking the community to use our online reporting tools as much as possible. Individuals may report a crime that is not in progress, a potential law violation that would not necessarily need an officer to respond, or make a report request by using the forms available at www.cedar-rapids.org/police.
After an individual completes the online form and submits it, a police employee will contact the individual for follow-up utilizing telephonic and electronic means.
The $5 fee for police records is suspended. Most public records requests can be accepted over the telephone or electronically, and provided to the requestor electronically.
While the online reporting tool has been available for the past week, the Police Department is strongly encouraging more usage of the online reporting tools. Individuals that use this process will help police officers continue to practice appropriate social distancing as we work together through this COVID-19 public health emergency.
For emergency incidents, please call 911. If you need urgent assistance and the online tools are not an option, please call (319) 286-5491.
