Registration Open for 2019 Police Department Youth Academy

Registration is open for the 2019 Cedar Rapids Police Department Youth Academy.  Students entering Kindergarten through 8^th Grade have the opportunity to learn more about being a Police Officer and serving the community by participating in a Youth Academy at the Cedar Rapids Police Department, 505 1^st Street SW. 

Youth Academy participants will get a tour of the police station and learn about diverse areas within the Police Department including Uniforms, K-9 Unit, Special Response Team, Crime Scene Unit, Physical Training, and more. 

The Academy will be held from 9:00 a.m. until Noon on the following dates:

• July 9^th and 10^th  (For students entering 5^th Grade through 8th Grade)
• July 23^rd and 24^th (For students entering 2^nd Grade through 4^th Grade)
• July 30^th and 31^st (For students entering Kindergarten through 1^st Grade) 

Early registration is recommended as class sizes are limited.  The Academies were popular last year and most of them reached enrollment capacity during the first week of registration. Cost of the Academy is $25 and participants must have parental permission to participate.  Students who have not previously attended a Youth Academy will be given first preference.
