Public Records

Per Chapter 22 of the Iowa Code, "Every person shall have the right to examine and copy a public record and to publish or otherwise disseminate a public record or the information contained in a public record." The City's full Public Records Policy, including a list of fees, was adopted by City Council Resolution No. 0829-05-04.

SEARCH PUBLIC RECORDS

The documents currently available to search and view online are City Council agendas (since 1994), packets (since May 2015), and minutes (since 1989), along with contracts, resolutions and ordinances (all since 2001).

How to Request Public Records

Email cityclerk@cedar-rapids.org, call 319-286-5060, write to the Office of the City Clerk, 101 First Street SE, Cedar Rapids, IA 52401, or visit the office at City Hall. Fees will apply for some requests, including those that take more than half an hour to fulfill or whose results cannot be delivered electronically.
