Public Works

Highway 100 Updates Courtesy of Iowa DOT

Paving is wrapping up and we hoping to have this four miles open to traffic by mid-December, weather permitting. Also, the fencing in this area will be complete.

US 30 to Covington

Grading work from N. of E Ave. to Covington is complete. Bridges over Ellis have started. Grading work from approximately 1st Avenue to N. of E Ave. continues. This grading will include extensive work at the E Ave. interchange. There are six bridges and a large retaining wall in the interchange area. Grading work from S. of US 30 to 1st Ave. began in September. Most of the work in the interchange with US 30 will take place in 2017.

Ribbon Cutting

Iowa Department of Transportation (I-DOT) and City of Cedar Rapids leaders will celebrate the near completion of the first phase of Highway 100 by hosting a ribbon cutting and community bike tour on Saturday, December 3 at 1:00 p.m. The event will start on Highway 100 near Edgewood Road with a short ceremony. After the ceremony, residents will be able to bicycle, walk or run the highway before the section is open to vehicle traffic.  This will be the public’s first opportunity to get a close up view of the new highway. Hot chocolate will be provided.
