Light bar illuminated on police squad carThe Patrol Division is commanded by Captain Jeff Hembera. Within the Patrol Division are the Special Response Team, K9 Unit, Bike Patrol, School Resource Officers, Hazardous Devices Unit, Traffic Division, Honor Guard and Reserve Police Officers, and District Policing. The Patrol Division includes 10 Lieutenants, 18 Platoon Sergeants, and 117 Patrol Officers including 7 K9’s.  Police officers provide around the clock response to calls for service.  There were 142,781 calls for service in 2015.

Bike Patrol

In the spring of 1995, the Cedar Rapids police Department began a bike patrol unit.

Bomb Squad
The Cedar Rapids Police Department has 7 certified bomb technicians.

District Lieutenants
Names, phone numbers, and email links for the three District Lieutenants.

K9
The Cedar Rapids Police Department currently utilizes 7 canine teams.

Special Response Team
(SRT) consists of members of the Police Department who have received special training in ballistics and defensive tactics.
