The Cedar Rapids Joint Communications Agency (CR-JCA) dispatches Cedar Rapids Police, Fire and Animal Control Officers. It also coordinates with allied agencies for other law enforcement, fire services and emergency medical services response in an effort to serve the needs of the public in an emergency situation or on a routine basis. The CR-JCA handles approximately 125,000 police calls for service, 10,000 fire calls for service and 10,000 animal control calls for service annually. The CR-JCA also handles over 68,000 911 calls and over 150,000 non-emergency phone calls annually. The CR-JCA dispatchers are all certified in Emergency Police, Fire and Medical dispatch through the International Academy of Emergency Dispatch. The CR-JCA is made up of a Manager, Operations Manager, 3 Lead Telecommunicators, and 22 Telecommunicators. The Management Team at the JCA are both certified Emergency Number Professionals (ENP) through the National Emergency Number Association. The Manager and Operations Manager make up 2 of the 9 ENP’s in the State of Iowa.
