The Training Division is in charge of all monthly training as well as the eight week academy that all new recruits must go through. Each firefighter must past yearly evaluations to ensure that fire crews are efficient in performing regular firefighting operations. These include putting up ladders, donning their SCBA (Self Contained Breathing Apparatus), tying knots, vehicle extrication, EMS skills and a host of other tasks. Training also oversees that all firefighters are NFPA certified to drive and operate the fire apparatus.
