Fire Station 1 (Central Fire Station)
Fire station 1, most commonly referred to as the Central Fire Station, is located at 713 1st Avenue SE. It is the Central Fire Station that houses Engine 1, Rescue 1 (which responds to all structure fires as well as special operations and auto extrication calls), and Truck 1 (100' platform truck that responds to all structure fires). Station 1 also houses two Battalion Chief shift commanders who supervise the east and the west battalions in the City.
Station 1 also houses all of the departments specialized equipment:
- Water rescue boats
- Brush 1
- Brush 2
- Special Ops
- Haz Mat
- Ranger
- Foam Trailer
- Bomb Squad Truck
- Reserve equipment
The Fire Department Administrative and Fire Marshal's Office staff are also housed at Station 1.
Fire Station 6
Station 6 is located at 2416 Mt. Vernon Road SE. It is a sister of Station 5 and was built at the same time in 1957. Engine 6 is first due to the Cargill plant. Station 6 also houses reserve rescue.
