Is your child in the right car seat?
Did you know about two-thirds of Child Safety Seats are improperly installed in Linn County?

Child Passenger Safety Seat Checks are held on the second Thursday of each month beginning at 5:15 PM at McGrath Buick GMC Cadillac, which is located at 1040 N. Center Point Road, Hiawatha (I-380 and Boyson Road Exit). Representatives from the Linn County Safe Kids Coalition, Cedar Rapids Police Department, Cedar Rapids Fire Department, Cedar Rapids Police Department and Marion Police Department will check seats for recalls and defects. The safety checks are voluntary and free of charge. Instruction will be provided on the correct installation and usage.  Call 319-310-SEAT to schedule an appointment. Appointments are required.

What type of Child Passenger Safety Seat is best for my child? The best seat is the one that fits your child, fits your vehicle, and will be used correctly and consistently. Make sure that you purchase a seat that meets Federal Vehicle Safety Standards, has not been involved in a previous collision (seats purchased at a garage sale are questionable), and is appropriate for your child.  For more information please logon to www.safecar.gov
