Intelligent Transportation Systems (ITS) Stakeholders Group
The ITS Stakeholders Group consists of ITS users in the metropolitan area such as emergency service providers, public works agencies, and Cedar Rapids Transit. The ITS Stakeholders Group is responsible for reviewing the ITS Architecture, which is the framework for implementing ITS in the metropolitan area. ITS is the use of technology to promote the movement of pedestrian and vehicular traffic in an efficient and safe manner. Some examples of ITS are advanced traffic signalization, the use of GPS to track transit vehicles or public works vehicles, and the dissemination of weather and traffic data to the public such as highway message signs.
