Program Open - Funding Nearly Exhausted
The First Time Home Buyer program is accepting applications for the 2018-2019 funding round. However, funds are nearly exhausted. Applications will still be accepted, but applicants should be aware that if funding runs out they will not be assisted.
Funds are available on a first come, first served basis, and applications will be reviewed in order. Additional details can be found in the Document Section below, including a link to the application and program forms, brochure, presentation, and frequently asked question documents.
To be eligible, there are four main criteria:
- Be a first-time buyer
- Meet the income requirements
- Purchase an eligible property
- Meet debt and mortgage criteria
Details about these requirements can be found in the brochure, presentation, income limit chart, and FAQ.

Home Buyer Education
Applicants are required to complete a HUD-approved home buyer education course before applying. Locally, Horizons offers an on-line course that is HUD-approved, but applicants are able to take any course they choose. However, it must specifically state the course and agency are “HUD-approved” in order for it to meet the requirements of the First Time Home Buyer program.
