The First Time Home Buyer program is accepting applications for the 2017-2018 funding round. Funds are available on a first come, first served basis, and applications will be reviewed in order. Additional details can be found in the Document Section below, including a link to the application, brochure, presentation, and frequently asked question documents.
To be eligible, there are four main criteria:
- Be a first-time buyer
- Meet the income requirements
- Purchase an eligible property
- Meet debt and mortgage criteria
Details about these requirements can be found in the brochure, presentation, income limit chart, and FAQ.
Each applicant is given an applicant code that can be used to track their status in the Applicant Status Log. This status is updated weekly. The log also shows the status of funds available for the program.

Home Buyer Education
Applicants are required to complete a HUD-approved home buyer education course before applying. Locally, Horizons offers an on-line course that is HUD-approved, but applicants are able to take any course they choose. However, it must specifically state the course and agency are “HUD-approved” in order for it to meet the requirements of the First Time Home Buyer program.
