Professional Background: Ms. Poe worked as a physical therapy technician with St Luke’s Hospital for a number of years, and in the marketing/communications/public relations and event planning fields for over 25 years. She served as the executive assistant to Governor Chet Culver and community liaison for the Rebuild Iowa Office following the devastating floods of June 2008. Council member Poe was previously the executive director of New Bo City Market.

Personal: Council member Poe was born and raised in Cedar Rapids, graduating from Kennedy High School. She has three adult children.

Professional Background: Ralph is retired after 44 years with HR Green, Inc., formerly Howard R. Green Company. Ralph is a licensed engineer in Iowa and several other states. He worked his entire professional career with HR Green. He served Green as its President and CEO for 26 years.

Education: BS, Civil Engineering, Iowa State University, 1969

Community: Iowa Engineering Society (serving seven years on the executive committee and one year as President); Consulting Engineers Council of Iowa (serving as President and seven years on Board of Directors); Iowa State University Engineering College Advisory Board; Board of directors for seven years and is a past president of Brucemore, the National Trust for Historic Preservation property in Cedar Rapids; Board of Directors of the Cedar Rapids Area Chamber of Commerce including one year as Board Chairman; Co-Chair of the Cedar Rapids Community School District School Efficiency Task Force;  Served on the Boards of Wells Fargo Bank (Cedar Rapids), Renaissance Group (Cedar Rapids Downtown Business Group), Greater Downtown Association of C.R., the Grant Wood Area Chapter of the American Red Cross, the Metro YMCA of Cedar Rapids, the East Central Iowa Council of Governments, the Iowa Association of Business and Industry, the Hawkeye Area Council of Boys Scouts of America, the Iowa Engineering Foundation, St. Luke’s Hospital (Cedar Rapids), the Cedar Rapids City Planning Commission and has served as a Board Advisor for Erdman Anthony and Associates; Board of directors and as chairman of Priority One, the Cedar Rapids area’s previous economic development organization; Board of Directors of the Linn Area BizPAC

Personal: Ralph and his wife Kathy live in Cedar Rapids. They have four children, Cathy, Jon, Katie and Jill and three grandchildren. Some of Ralph’s hobbies are community-volunteering, wine collecting and fishing.
