1890-1905: In 1898, the 30 year old First Baptist Church structure at the corner of Second Avenue and Third Street SE was demolished and replaced by a new two story building that featured new facilities for the Cedar Rapids National Bank on the street level. Upstairs was the Dows Auditorium and an early location for the Cedar Rapids Public Library.
