1990-present: From 1990 until the 2008 flood, this west side area saw little change. The old Peoples Bank name changed again from Norwest to Wells Fargo.
The entire area was hit hard by the June 2008 Flood and there was consideration for demolishing all buildings in the area with the lone exception of the 1910-1911 Peoples Bank building. That decision was reversed and the name Kingston was brought back to this area as part of a preservation & redevelopment effort after the Flood. Today Kingston Village is a vibrant west side commercial center again. The old Peoples Bank has been restored as Popoli’s Restaurant.
Other historic commercial buildings on Third Avenue SW now contain businesses such as a hair salon and a Pilates & yoga center. The former Colonial Theatre building still contains a tattoo shop and bail bonds office, same as before the Flood.
