1973-1990: A few “chain” retail businesses began to operate along 16th Avenue SW in the 1960’s and early 70sincluding a Wareco gas station, Coast to Coast Hardware and Auto Supply and this Tastee-Freez ice cream stand at 85 16th Avenue SW. Going into the 1970’s, there was a sense that this area was starting to look too much like other small neighborhood retail centers and that the essence of the old Czech Heritage was being lost as the generations changed.
