1973-1990: As 16th Avenue SW was transformed into “Czech Village” in the late 1970’s and early 1980’s to increase tourism and preserve local Czech traditions, special elements were built to accentuate this new focus. A bandstand was built along 16th Avenue SW in the middle of what had been a small road called B Street SW. The bandstand provided a focus point for Czech music and dance performances and added a cultural amenity to the area especially for Czech themed festivals such as Houby Days.
