1973-1990: A period of further decline for this block of Third Street SE. In the late 1970’s, the Iowa Steel and Iron Works factory put up a new structure directly behind this block. It was a large rectangular metal building that had no windows and was painted blue. One end of the metal structure stood behind the Community Theatre at 1124 Third Street SE.
