Veterans' Memorial Facilities
Manager
The City of Cedar Rapids is looking for an experienced
Facilities Manager for the Veterans' Memorial Building. This
position reports to the Veterans' Memorial Commission. The Facility Supervisor will direct and supervise Memorial facilities, grounds and personnel including operations, maintenance, administrative and contracted services. Will also oversee the arrangement, cataloguing and exhibition of military collectables, and maintain the collections. This is a salaried position with some evening and weekend hours required, the normal work week is Monday through Friday 7:30 am to 3:30 pm.
Due to the nature of this position candidates who have served in the United States Uniformed Services and who received an honorable discharge are preferred.
This position requires:
- Comprehensive knowledge of methods, practices, techniques, equipment, tools, materials and supplies used in building maintenance and repairs
- Comprehensive knowledge of safety regulations, principles, practices and procedure
- Comprehensive knowledge of building and facility maintenance, mechanical and structural trades and tools
- Thorough knowledge of the operation of equipment and tools used in building maintenance
- Thorough knowledge of construction and building trades including carpentry, hvac, electrical and plumbing
- Thorough knowledge of military customs, courtesies, traditions and history
This position requires the ability to:
- Plan for, evaluate and assist in maintenance repairs
- Accurately estimate costs, identify viable options for repairs and/or replacements to provide budgetary input and assist in funding proposals
- Prepare accurate and reliable reports containing mechanical standards and performance, maintenance methods and materials, findings, conclusions and recommendations
- Instruct, evaluate, monitor, motivate, supervise and train employees
- Operate and instruct personnel in the use of tools and machinery
- Work and communicate effectively verbally and in writing with a variety of stakeholders
Educational Requirements:
- Individuals with any combination of work experience and education that provides the required knowledge and abilities will be considered. A Bachelor’s degree is
preferred. Successful candidates will posses considerable experience.
Salary is based on experience and qualifications the current
annual wage range is from $49,795 to $68,390
