Iowa’s children are being lead poisoned. You can help reduce the chances of lead poisoning by applying simple, Safe Work Practices. You can be a part of the solution.
Who Can Benefit From This Training?
The training is designed for owners and/or their hired workers who perform renovation activities such as painting, dry-walling or general carpentry in housing built prior to 1978.
Topics Covered
The course will provide workers with the knowledge and understanding of the health hazards associated with lead based paint. It will also provide direction in lead-safe work practices while doing any work that may disturb a painted surface.

- Laws and Regulations
- Identifying and Controlling LBP Hazards
- Lead Safe Renovation and Remodeling

How to Register
For registration, please call Tricia Arnold at Housing Services at (319) 286-5179. Sessions are limited to a minimum of 10 participants and a maximum of 25. Registration will be $10.00 per participant and on a first call-in basis.

More Information
If you want to be certified in Lead-Safe Work Practices, Attendance for the full eight hours of training is required. You are expected to be on time. Late arrivals will have to make up the training.
There will be an exam at the end of the day. A score of 80% or better and the full eight hours of training must be adhered to in order to receive a course certificate. You must not conduct business during training and you will be asked to turn off cell phones.
