Memorial 5K Run/Walk

Overview
Organized by the Cedar Rapids Fire Department, this annual race is designed to raise money for a Memorial Fund for fallen firefighters. Besides the 5K Run/Walk, this year will include a Wheel Chair Race and Junior Firefighter Half-mile Fun Run.

The Course
The CRFD Memorial 5K will be held on a USATF-certified 5K course (IA 03002-MF) at Prairie High School, 401 76th Avenue SW, Cedar Rapids. The course winds through the campus and surrounding roads. The Department of Development facilitates development opportunities and regional planning strategies that maintain and enhance the quality of life to ensure physical, economic, and social benefits for Cedar Rapids and surrounding communities.

  Open to any Emergency Service Agency. All participants should sign up individually and designate their agency or department on the entry form. A minimum of four participants from the same agency or department is required. The top four finishers from the same agency will be added to determine team finish.
  
• Junior Firefighter Half-Mile Fun Run
  Open to children 12 years of age and younger. All finishers will receive a ribbon. There is no charge for this race and youngsters may sign up on race day.
  
  

Awards

The overall male and female winners will receive the Kevin Sterenchuk Memorial trophy, while the top three winners in each age division will receive medals. The event will also recognize the Overall Male & Female Master, Overall Male & Female Wheelchair, and 1st, 2nd, and 3rd Place Police & Fire Teams. Each of these winners will receive a trophy. All participants in the Junior Firefighter Half-Mile Run receive ribbons.

          9:30 AM     Junior Firefighter Half-Mile Fun Run
                           Awards will immediately follow Junior Firefighter Half-Mile Run
