Description
- The former Time Check Recreation Center, located at K Avenue NW & 5th Street NW in Time Check Park, was destroyed by the Flood of 2008.
- The proposed facility will be approximately 16,000 square feet
- The center will be constructed higher than the 100 year flood plain level
- A primary feature of the facility will be a full-sized gymnasium for youth and adult athletics.
- A large multi-purpose room for programs, parties, and other uses is also to be included in the blueprints.
- The entire facility will meet current ADA requirements, which will allow staff to provide services to people of any age with mobility impairments or any other disability.
Tentative Timeline
- Summer 2013 – Procurement and bidding
- Fall 2013 – Construction may begin
- Spring 2014 – Construction may be complete
Funding Sources
- $3,050,000 in FEMA repair funds
- $700,000 in City Capital Improvement Project (CIP) funds
Total Estimated Project Cost: $3.7 million
