Three current members of the Cedar Rapids Municipal Band performed with the band during the 1951 concert season either as regular members or part time substitute players.
Lawrence (Larry) Klima
Lawrence (Larry) Klima has been a member of the band for over 50 years. He started playing clarinet in the original city band in 1950. He has also served faithfully for many years as the band's equipment manager. Larry has also served as secretary of the local Musicians Union and managed the Performance Trust Fund which provides financial support for band concerts.
Chester (Chet) Ehrenberger
Chester (Chet) Ehrenberger has the honor of being the band member with the longest consecutive membership. Chet was in the Army during the band's first two years, but "sat in" playing a concert each year while home on furlough. He is the only band member who can boast that he has played at least one concert every year. During Chet's years as a member he has performed hundreds of solo passages on his Euphonium. Chester doesn't play every week anymore, but still takes a seat under the band shell several weeks each summer.
Robert (Bob) Sadilek
Robert (Bob) Sadilek has been a member of the band for around 50 years. Bob has devoted most of his life to teaching and playing music in Cedar Rapids. He served as band director at McKinley Junior High and Middle School for 35 years. In addition Bob has been a private teacher of brass students, and is chair of the Band Commission. Besides occupying his chair in the trombone section, he has appeared as soloist and guest director of the band a number of times.
