Chuck Wieneke CHUCK WIENEKE

Biography:

Chuck is a native Iowan, born and raised on farms west of Cedar Rapids. He graduated from Jefferson High School in 1962 and attended the University of Iowa graduating in 1967. Upon graduation Chuck entered the United States Air Force serving for 26 years before retiring and returning home to Cedar Rapids in 1993. He is a decorated combat veteran of the Vietnam War whose awards include a Silver Star, four Distinguished Flying Crosses and five Meritorious Service Medals. During his Air Force career he served in a wide variety of leadership positions ranging from Squadron Operations Officer to Director of Operations of the Air Force Electronic Warfare Center. His career included assignments in Spain and Germany in positions requiring extensive international coordination with military and political representatives of both European and Mid-Eastern nations.

Chuck, after his Air Force retirement and return to Cedar Rapids was hired by the State of Iowa in 1995 as a Regional Supervisor of Iowa Workforce Development and was responsible for the operation of all offices in the eastern portion of the state. Two years later, following a reorganization of the department, he assumed the operational oversight of all 71 Workforce Development offices in the state of Iowa and functioned in this role for four years. He left his position with the State of Iowa in 2002 to run for seat in the Iowa House representing District 34 in Cedar Rapids. He has served in security positions, first at Rockwell-Collins and presently at AEGON from 2003 to the present time.

Personal:

Chuck and his wife Lori have been married for 20 years and have lived in Cedar Rapids since his retirement for the Air Force in 1993. He has three grown children; two sons and a daughter and twelve grandchildren.

Bachelor’s degree: University of Iowa, Major in Political Science and History with Minor in Languages. (1967).
Masters work in Public Administration: Golden Gate University
Military Schools completed: Squadron Officers School, Air Command and Staff College, Air War College
