City of Cedar Rapids to Observe Thanksgiving Day Holiday

The City of Cedar Rapids will observe the Thanksgiving Day holiday on November 26 and 27, 2009. Most City offices and departments will be closed. The following City services will continue to operate:

Cedar Rapids Public Library - closing Wednesday at 4:00 p.m., closed on Thursday, open Friday 9:00 a.m. to 9:00 p.m.

CR Transit - no service on Thursday, reduced service on Friday (see additional information below)

Fire Department
Joint Communications Center
Parking Office - office closed, parking meters will not be enforced, parkades will be open
Police Department
Solid Waste & Recycling - no collection on Thursday (see additional information below)
Water Pollution Control

The City bus service will operate on a reduced schedule on the Friday after Thanksgiving. The peak period trips will not be running on this day. Those are the shaded portions listed in the city bus schedule. For more information, call (319) 286-5573.

The Solid Waste & Recycling department will not be collecting garbage, yard ward waste and recycling on Thanksgiving Day. Weekly collection routes will be one day later.
