Arrest made in Shooting

CEDAR RAPIDS, IA - November 2, 2009 - The Cedar Rapids Police Department made an arrest in the shooting on Sunday, November 1, 2009. Arrested was Timothy Lamont Reynolds, 12/7/91, of 55 Robins Rd SE, Hiawatha, IA. Reynolds was charged today with Attempted Murder.

The Cedar Rapids Police responded to a shooting in the area of 1411 4 Ave SE. When officers arrived, they found Christopher Pearson/ 38, of 1411 4 Ave SE, laying on the ground and had been shot once in the abdomen. Witnesses saw a black male wearing a dark hoodie or jacket, running north from the area. Pearson was transported to St. Luke's Hospital with life threatening injuries.

Through their investigation the Cedar Rapids Police responded to the Rose Apartments at 1407 3 Ave SE #5. Officers responded to this address and found several individuals in the apartment. The owner allowed officers to enter and speak to the occupants. One individual gave a name but officers were able to identify him as Timothy Reynolds. Reynolds was arrested for Interference with Official Acts. A handgun was located in the apartment. It was taken as evidence. Reynolds was taken to Linn County Detention.

Cedar Rapids Police Investigators and officers worked through the evening, interviewing witnesses and the victim was interviewed this morning. Tim Reynolds was identified as the shooter. An exchange of words had occurred between Pearson and Reynolds just before Pearson was shot. Reynolds was charged with Attempted Murder this morning. He will be charged as an adult because he is within 6 months of his 18th birthday.

All criminal charges are merely an accusation and the defendants is presumed innocent until and unless they are proven guilt.
