loose leaf collection crews running late
CEDAR RAPIDS, IA - October 29, 2009 - Leaf collection routes are running extremely heavy this week due to the weather and the volume of leaves that have and continue to fall. Collection crews are removing over 160 tons of leaves per day which has causing some minor delays. Leaf vacuum collection crews are running a few hours behind and have been working until 7:00 PM.
If your leaves have not been collected by the end of the day on your regular collection day, crews will return the next morning to resume collection. Leaf vacuum trucks will operate until dusk each night, but can not operate after dark due to safety concerns.
The City of Cedar Rapids Solid Waste and Recycling Division asks for customers patience under these unique weather conditions and reminds all solid waste and recycling customers that loose leaf collection service is scheduled to run until December 11th, weather permitting.
