Civil Rights Executive Director Wins First Place in the
Federal Reserve Bank Essay Contest
April 24, 2009: Karl Cassell, Executive Director of the Cedar
Rapids Civil Rights Commission, earned first place in
the “Fed Prize” Essay Challenge. The challenge was to
write an innovative essay which responds to the many
tough issues facing community developers today. The
essay contest was held by the Federal Reserve Bank of
St. Louis, Conference on Community Development.
Mr. Cassell was awarded a complimentary
training session for NeighborWorks Training Institute,
held in Chicago, Illinois.
