CEDAR RAPIDS, IA – July 2, 2012 – On Tuesday, June 26, 2012, the Cedar Rapids Police Department responded to a two vehicle crash in the 3400 blk 6 St SW at about 9:42 pm. Kraig Weber/38, driver of the 1999 Jeep Cherokee died this weekend. The crash is being investigated as a Fatality now.

The night of the crash, officers found a 2011 Ford Edge driven by Madeline Freeze/17 of Cedar Rapids and a 1999 Jeep Cherokee driven by Kraig Weber/38 of Cedar Rapids had collided. The Jeep Cherokee had been southbound on 6 St and the Ford had been northbound on 6 St.

Through their investigation, Cedar Rapids Police Department found that the Jeep Cherokee had moved into the northbound lanes and struck the Ford. Freeze was treated and released from Mercy Hospital. No charges were filed.

This is the third fatality in 2012.
